Midwives

Curtis and I teach the 9 year olds in church. Last week the lesson had to do with baby Moses and we were talking how the midwives were told to kill any male child that was born. Well it became clear that none of the kids had any idea what a midwife was so I gave them a quick explanation. One of the boys laughed and said "I thought a midwife was after two people got married and then broke up, then got remarried to a stepwife and then they broke up and when they remarried it was their midwife"

Last week of school

I can't believe that Kaitlyn is done with Kindergarten. I swear she just started!! Well this week started when we were coming home from church on Sunday. Curtis has been making dinner on Sunday's for a while now so I was able to twist his arm to do it again so I could relax and spend time with my girls. Kaitlyn insisted that she did not want her Daddy making dinner but she wanted me to do it. Her reasoning behind it "But the food you make is not dangerous!" The week progressed into getting our window fixed on our truck. This was the second window that has been broken by the people mowing the lawn. The first window we replaced and chalked up as bad luck but I was furious to see another window was broken and I refused to pay for it. It ended up that the company fixed the window and it is a good thing because there are not many people besides Curtis who sees the wrath of Rachel. At least they would take me serious because all Curtis ever does when I am mad is laugh at me and tell me how cute I am when I'm mad. To end our week I ended up locking my keys in the car and having Curtis come rescue me and then celebrating Kaitlyn's graduation with banana splits.

Corrupted

Well I have come to realize just how much I have corrupted my child this week. Kaitlyn finally has a loose tooth. She has been wiggling her teeth for months trying to find on e that is loose. Well she was telling me about all the exciting things that happen when her tooth comes out including how she will get money from it. Well I wanted to know what she wanted to buy with her money and she told me that she wanted to take it to the bank and put it in there to save it for an emergency. What six year old wants to save her money from the tooth fairy and what would constitute an emergency in her life. So it is official. My child has been labeled a tight-wad.

Funny things kids say

One of my favorite things about being a Mom is all the funny words and things my kids say. I had a professor in school who adamantly told us no matter how "cute" something is you need to correct the child so that they won't be made fun of when they go to school and say it wrong around their friends. Well I guess I have to admit that I finally corrected Kaitlyn about a week before kindergarten (because it was so darn cute) and much to my dismay she has never said umbrella wrong again. Here is a list of some of my favorite words from my girls. Keep in mind part of the cuteness is the way that they say it.

umberlella or bru-lella (umbrella)
stider (spider)
Monoculars (monopoly)
chicken niggets (chicken nuggets)
kiweeds (kiwis)
cinderlella (Cinderella)
cloth-cloth (wash cloth)
can cakes (pancakes) I even couldn't get mad at Madison when she woke me up at four in the morning to ask me to make her can cakes because it was so cute and of
course she needs a cloth cloth to wipe the syrup off her mouth!

Kids will be kids

I made lasagna the other night for dinner. It was a little spicy which Kaitlyn absolutely hates anything remotely spicy. I thought for sure she would not eat it. Well we were sitting there and she was gobbling it up. She stops in the middle of eating and says "Mom, this is so good. You are the best cheft. Daddy is a good cheft too. He is number 20th" Well of course I was dying to know where I was on her scale so I asked her. She said "You are number 13th." Well at least I can out cook Curtis this week, Kaitlyn says that he cooks a pretty mean hot dog!

Madison on the other hand was working on her rejections this week. When I asked for a kiss one day she told me "Sorry, I don't have any kisses in my throat!"

Mothers Day

Kaitlyn was so excited for it to be Mothers Day. She has been working on a project in school to give me and she has been practicing a song in Primary to sing to me. The card that she gave me was giving a description of a person to try and guess who it was. Well it said who is 30 years old and weighs 201 pounds. Well I am sure that it was me who she was describing but for the record I am not 30 years old and I do not weigh 201 pounds.

The other gift that she gave me was a book she wrote about her family. That is the joy with kids, they really plainly write how they see things. It was hilarious. Here are a few things she wrote about:

She has brown hair. She has blue eyes. My mom is Rachel. My mom loves me. She works hard so we can have money. I love her. She likes to eat healthy food. We play

I like my mom. Her name is Rachel. She helps me wash the dishes. She likes to cook cordon blue. I love her she loves me. She likes my dad.

My dad is Curtis . Brown hair. Brown eyes. Chuck TV (Curtis likes the TV show Chuck). I love him. He likes to hid and surprise my mom. He likes tacos (I think she got this because Curtis calls his brother Taco). He likes football(I have no idea where this came from). He loves me.

My sister is madison. She is nice. I love her. She like purple. She likes here room. She likes to sleep in my bed. She likes me.

I like to go camping. We like to roast marshmallows. We like to celebrate birthdays, We like to watch movies. We like to go motorbiking.

I like my pet is A.J. Clark. She is a dog. She always does what I tell her to do. I love her. (This is her robotic dog)

The picture is Madison talking to my Mom to wish her a Happy Mothers Day. I decided I was going to take a day off from life and I was relaxing on the couch (which I very rarely do) and Curtis was in charge of making dinner. Well Madison plopped down in front of me and then started telling my Mom "My Mom is just sitting on the couch being lazy". Well I guess it was the truth but I can justify being lazy once a year can't I?

Kindy 500

For school today Kaitlyn's school did a Kindy 500. All the kids in kindergarten made a vehicle at home and brought it to school to do a parade and then drove around to visit different 'sights' that they have learned about in school (like the Statue of Liberty). Kaitlyn really wanted to do a motorcycle (hmm I wonder where she got that idea from). It also had to be dark blue/almost black with sparkles to be just like her Dad's. It has taken a couple of weeks to pull it off but it definitely turned out really great!!
